I just installed Centric Premium Driller+Slotted rotors on mine (bought new from member Anthony@BimmerBrakes) - I really love them! The Hawk HPS pads I bought to go with these - meh, not so sure, they are a little soft for my taste. But the stopping power is IMMENSE! I liken it to a jet reversing it's thrusters on landing - it even has that bass'y oooooooooooph sound when you slam the middle pedal hard

Good luck and let us know how it works out with the EBC pads

they are the little metal circles on the part of the rotor that does not touch the brake pads look at the pictures of pelican parts of the oem.

I don't think those circles do anything. I don't have those circles on my stock rotors anyways.

The difference is the OEM has floating aluminum hub and the non-OEM is solid, one-piece iron. The two piece floating rotors are lighter and transfer less heat to the hub assembly than one-piece rotors.

OEM VS Non-OEM

Here's a closeup of an M5 2piece floating rotor.

I am also looking to upgrade brakes...

Just bought and installed the Vorsteiner CS01 rims which have been advertised in the Vendor classifieds, but now i find my current brakes look small and crappy....

Had a look at Brembo 6 pot but it comes with a punchy price tag... Any other cost effective solutions>? Looking more for the look rather than performance, although of course it has to be as good as oem or better.

Please help me out.

The circles i'm talking about can be seen on pelican parts above. The OEM Rotors have them but the Zimmermann do not
OEM 545/550 and maybe 535 rotors are made up of two different parts, the hat/hub is aluminum and the disk is iron. The circles are essentially rivets holding the two pieces together. I believe the main reason is for weight reduction.

Just got an upgrade on my brakes. EBC USR discs, EBC RedStuff pads, EBC brake fluid. Results: no more dust, good performance, little noise, but no squeaking ...I'm happy!

OEM M5 brakes are a much more cost effective option IMHO than the Brembos which cost around $3200 US per axle. I have seen a few full sets of OEM M5 brakes on the M5boards (since members there upgrade to BBK's) going for $900 - 1100. Good luck, it is definitely on my list of mods "to do"
