read these stats, they dont lie. Alot of acccidents are vehicle to vehicle. If the car your friend was in hit it straight on he would have flown 100 feet forward or just impacted the dash real hard to cause major internal injury.

I like to favor the stats wearing the restraints
Yea they may wrinkle your favorite shirt or cause you to feel closterphobic, but theyre there for a reason.

Well I dont mean to nag , Its just im an advocate for seatbelts. I work next door to the ICU and MVA's with no belts , multiple life threatning injuries, head injuries, and unresponsive comatose GSC of 3 (Ericdbs you know what im talking about) isnt too pleasant . Such a small sacrifice. Hey the chime doesnt go on for Fighter jet pilots, and planes. Lets get those and cruise around with no belts.+ theyre alot quicker

I'm an advocate for seatbelts too. The first thing I do upon getting into the car is put my belt on... yes, even before turning the key.

HOWEVER ... there are many situations in which I find the seat belt restrictive - rolling through the multi-storey car park at 2mph trying to find a space, trying to back the car into a lot, waiting for my food at the drive through, trying to lean out the window to accept my food at the drive through, trying to lean out the window to get my ID badge to the card reader at the gate at my office. It's situations like these that make me want to silence that damn ding, and I am sure that that is what most of the contributors to this thread and others like it are getting at.

Why do some of you assume that we want that ding silenced so that we can tear about like headless chickens without our belts on? The flaming going on here is totally unwarranted, assinine and certainly not befitting what one would expect on a forum populated by persons intelligent enough to have accumulated sufficient means to afford a luxury vehicle.

Well said MacSid.

Why do people think if you want the chime gone, its because we want to tear around with are seatbelts off.

We wear are damn seatbelts, 100% of the time will driving. Its just that damn chime is F#&@ing annoying in certain situations.

Well, judging from a few other threads (and not neccessarily this one) around here, intelligence does not seem to be a pre-requisite before visiting your local dealership..
