So far so good. Then again it has only been a week on the Generals. My friend has them on his E92 and loves them. He has recorded about 10k miles so far. For right now, they are a lot quiter than my RFT's. Again that is not saying much. Time will tell. If I am not mistaken, I think Tire Rack's Review for the tire was pretty descent and noise was not bad. See below.

I second the General Exclaims. I got my brother a set with your same specs for $660 mounted and balanced. Tires are doing well so far...

I am still unclear which exact tire to get if the rims are 19 x 8.5 in the front and 19 x 9.5 in the back. And why is it recommended to have 35 profile in the front yet have 30 in the rear? Why not 30 in the front as well as the back? I'm not sure on the reasoning behind it.

2004 BMW 530i

The figures for tire profile, 30 rear 35 front is a ratio of the width of the tire.

Front 245x35 = 85.75mm sidewall
Rear 275x30 = 82.5mm sidewall

If you had 245/30 in the front it would be 73.5mm sidewall! That's almost an inch difference in diameter total wheel and tire circumference

I was a complete tire-retard until today. I read all about it and it all makes sense. =) http://www.car-videos.net/info/tirespecs.asp Gotta love the Intarwebz.

I have General Exclaim's on my 166's. While they are not the best performance tire they are a great tire foe the $$ and I would recommend them.

So, I am thinking of buying M166 19" rims from Garry this week. (Seen in this pic off google, I'll post pics of my actual car after its done... heh)

So, my problem came when I started to look for tires. I decided after work today to go visit a few places. I went to a local tire shop, and also an NTB, and realized how damn expensive they are. Retail seems to be a complete rip-off. The guy at NTB wanted $1,571.43 for FOUR Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires. Specifically, 245/35/19 in the front and 275/30/19 in the rear, (are those the correct sizes?). The price included the mounting, balancing, etc. So, is that a fair shake? Furthermore, are those tires the right size for my 04' 530i ???

At any rate, I walked out and immediately came home and posted here. You people know what you're talking about for the most part and I've only had my car for a few weeks.

HELP!
Call Tire Rack and ask for Jim ext. 364
He is a BMW enthusiast an will take care of you.
For $600 the General Exclaim UHP are great tires.
