I Like The ACS Wheels (Not To Add Any Confusion) Plus if you are going to go with new wheels you mine as well get 20's if you are going to upsize

At this point I am leaning towards on the M5 type 166 wheels. If the original ACS type IV wheels were anywhere close to reasonably priced I would buy those over the 166, but I just can't bring myself to trust the replicas. If they were made by one of the European companies that make BMW replica (as well as original) wheels I would feel much more comfortable about buying them, but according to Herb appearently they are made somewhere in Asia (by I don't know who.........)

rody,
I'd definitly get the 166 rims without a doubt. I've never been a fan of most aftermarket rims. The 166 M5 rims are awesome IMO. Infact I will probably also get the same rims but not for another year or two. I now have to wait for my new runflats wear out.. then i'll get some new rims and real max performance non-runflat tires.
Are you getting them directly from BMW? How much are they? Will you still have a staggard setup with fatter tires, 255 front, 285 rear?

The BMW dealer the I got my M-kit from is quoting me about $420 for the fronts and $430 for the rears. They have a set that they are going to put on one of their showroom E60's sometime this week or early next week. I will check it out to see how it looks actually with tires and mounted on the car as I have already seen the wheels without tires. One thing is that they intend to use the same tire size as the M5 (255/40-19 Front, 285/35-19 Rear), but those sizes increase the overall diameters by 1.314" for the fronts and 1.275" for the rears (in comparison to my current ones with the 124's). I pointed this out to them but I think they are still going with those sizes. I know that changing the diameter of the tires will affect the acceleration, speedo, and gas milage, but does anyone know which way each of those will be affected?:
1. Will increasing the diameter make the acceleration quicker or slower?
2. Will the speedo indicate higher or lower than actual speed?
3. Will the gas mileage be better or worse?
I calculated the diameter of some other sizes and these are a much closer match to my original 124's/tires:
Front: 255/35-19 (adds only 0.314" to the diameter)
Rear: 285/30-19 (adds only 0.151" to the diameter)
or 295/30-19 (adds 0.391" to the diameter...assuming the 295's won't be too wide with this particular wheel offset).
I still don't know whether I will do this now or wait until my tires are worn and need replacing. If I find myself tempted in a weak moment I may just do it now

Does anyone know the part numbers to the 166 wheels? My ETK is old and does not have the M5 wheels in it. They are giving me 15% off list but I want to call some other dealers and see if they have better deals for BMWCCA members. I would rather have the part numbers when I call other dealers as without giving them part numbers most of them are lost, especially when you mention "M5".
