I was looking at an E60 bootlid recently with no spoiler and noticed the edge had quite prominent hump. On my lid which has an M spoiler it appears to be completley flat. So does the spoiler have a shaped recess underneath that fits over the hump or is it a different lid?

Hope this isn't a re-thread just curious!

there is definitely more than one type of e60 bootlid (talking about cars without any form of spoiler)

i fitted an m5 oem lip spoiler to mine, and before i did, the bootlid was totally flat. i had a good look at a 535d on the road here in london today, and although it definitely had no spoiler, the bootlid has a gently lipped back edge, unlike mine was. mine's an early e60, im guessing perhaps they changed it to the not-totally-flat bootlid at some stage, verification anyone?

I agree. I think starting with the 2006s there is a slight hump. I first noticed this at the Bay Area Meet while checking out my530i's new 550i. I do not recall my 2005 trunklid having any hump.

Are you sure it's not just an optical illusion? I'll have to check this out the next time I see a newer model. It'd be nice to see a side-by-side comparison. Anyone?
