Just make sure you get you a pair of non polarizing sunglasses! If you have polarized lens you can't see the display. I've had HUD in three if my bmw's and currently in the F10 , it really sux. You would think someone would come up with a different system that works with all lens.

Thanks tony for the info. Still no answer to my question regarding that black cable... I am guessing it's a adjustment cable....

Yes, it's for adjustment of the height(?).

I've retrofitted this myself, but I'm not done with the wiring yet.

Are you sure ? I coded my car with the HUD option, and in my cic menu, in the HUD settings I have brightness setting and height setting.....

The black bowden cable is for the horizontal tilt adjustment.
And yes, you need to swap the RLS, otherwise you can use HUD only in the dark. Been there, done that.

Thanks strada, I bought the New RLS last week. Will start the installation on thursday.

Well, I've done this retrofit today, all works well, but I have to adjust the height of the HUD display, it's a bit down, and I can't see it in my regular sitting position. I found out how to adjust it higher but did not get around in doing it today. Did any other members encounter this problem after retrofitting HUD? (height issue).
