This is the first time I have seen this thread and the pics. BenAnd is absolutely a mad genius.

Sublime did a HUD retro in his 550i. He might have some insight also.

I've done this 4 times. Have any questions not covered in this thread?

Sorry for bringing an old thread back up. I've started with this retrofit, but I can not figure out where the four clips (62304332403 (and washer/nuts 07119904205 and 07119903769)) should be mounted.

Does anyone have a explanation or picture that shows these?

for anyone that cares...

With the HUD it is possible to enable the m-view display which switches the HUD to show an RPM scale with green/yellow/red bands and the current gear as it is done in the M5.

This is described in detail in the coding threads.

What is not so well known is how to get the RPM bands to be accurate. There are some threads where others have attempted to manually edit the hex codes in the software to get the band to show correctly. What I can confirm is that my RPM bands are accurate on my 08 535xi. I updated the trans module software for other reasons and I noticed, quite by accident, my RPM bands was now correct. I don't know the exact process to make it happen again because I was not trying to fix the RPM bands. They just started working. So my point of this post is NOT to explain how to do it... only that it is possible.

I profit of the thread to ask if there is someone in EU capable of doing the retrofit. I have all necessary parts since... 2009-2010 but don't want to code etc. by myself.
Thanks!

Please check WDS, it is all there. This is what BenAnd sent me ages ago so all thanks should be given to him:

Connecto HUD = X13819

Pin connection in X13819 :

1 = ( Blue/Yellow ) to lightswitch pin 2

2 = Not used

3 = ( Black ) K_Can_Bus signal HIGH to CAS modul pin 35

4 = ( Yellow ) K_Can_Bus signal LOW to CAS moul pin 26

5 = ( Red/Black ) KL30 power pin 26 fuse connector in the trunk

6 = ( Red/Green ) KL30 power pin 11 fuse connector in the trunk

7 = ( Blue/Brown ) to lightswitch pin 1

8 - 10 = Not used

11 = ( Brown ) to ground

12 = ( Brown ) to ground

Regarding the MOST-Bus signal ( optical signal ) , you can "cut in" on the string at the CCC/M-ASK , but be awear of in-going/out-going of the optical signal at the HUD and the CCC/M-ASK signal , so that you get the signal the "right" way around
