If they told you that you NEED hubcentric rings, get them ASAP! Every tire shop should have them in stock. now im pissed, i just got off the phone with the dealer and he said he talked to his wheel vendor. the wheel vendor said they needed hub rings which means they're phony. so i held my tongue and im going to wait until tomorrow morning when im meeting with the owner, their tire rep, and the salesman to nicely rip them apart and get my way.

are they're any telltale signs of fakes like serial numbers or barcodes bmw puts on them?

OEM M5 wheels are made by BBS and I think M6's are too. So there should be a text BBS embossed on original M6 wheels.
I'm not sure if answered the question...
