was at the local BMW dealer this morning and asked to see if they could match or do better than what Newport BMW can do on M5 OEM wheels with good tires. We'll, long story short, I now have M5 wheels, brand spankin new, with 285 rear and 255 rear Continental SportContact2 tires, mounted, balanced and installed with new BMW center caps for $2,850. that includes tax. Good deal no? I think Newport was $2,500 something for just the wheels plus shipping (although i might be wrong).

i think i did well!

will post pics soon!!!!

Congrats! It seems you got yourself a good deal. The price of M5 wheels (166 M) with Garry at Newport is a tick over $1500. BigMike bought a set from Garry recently.

But with the tires that you got, you may experience rubbing. Tire sizes for the M5 and the mere mortal 5 Series are slightly different.

This is a great deal but it sounds like you got the M5 rims with M5 tire sizes and unfortunately they wont fit on a regular E60. I think the rears might but the fronts absolutely will not.

Hmmm, now that i have them on....although they look incredible, the fronts do rub a bit but only over some specific dips in the road and such....damn...I have read here numerous times that people had this exact set up and had zero issues. Good thing is that my dealer did the work and they actually just called as a follow up and i mentioned the rubbing and they took a sincere interest and there's no doubt I'll get my money back if there is no solution. Couple questions...can i have the front fenders rolled? My dealer has this service too....or as If read on this forum, I read people have milled a hair off the center of the wheel (where it meets the hub) and all is good....maybe a millimeter or two......help!

AFAIK: the width of the tire, changes the revolution time ==>slight speed measurement discrepancy...
