Don't know if they're any cheaper, but don't install them while overseas. They are not U.S. spec and will be removed when your car gets back to the states. If you do buy them in Germany, pack them and install them at home...

Having said all that, I still agree that it is better to bring them back home and install them after the car gets here. They are so small that they don't take up any room in the luggage.

I agree that it's better to install them after the car gets back to the US.....that's what I did.? However, the ARE US spec.? When the E60 first came out in the US the dealers would tell people that the reflectors did not meet US regulations and that is why US E60's did not get them.? That did not sound right to me since other cars (including other BMW's) had these reflectors on their US models.? So I checked all the US regulations and the placement/height/size, etc. met US regulations.? As far as the reflectors themselves, they all had the "US DOT" markings on them, so they also met US specs.? The final proof that they do indeed meet US regulations is the fact that these reflectors are now listed in the US E60 Accessories brochure.....if they did not meet US specs. BMW NA would not have put it in the accessories brochure.? I still think that there were other reasons involved in not putting the reflectors on US model E60's, maybe a low initial supply, etc........besides, BMW NA would rather make more money by selling them as an accessory.

Right, I meant they are not BMW spec for U.S. cars, meaning that I've heard of people having them removed at the BMW VPC upon arrival in the states.? Not really a DOT or U.S. Gov't issue, a BMW issue...? Hate to have to buy them again when you take delivery again back in the U.S. and they are gone.

OK.....that makes sense. That's exactly why I did not risk putting mine on in Germany and waited 'till the car got here. I assumed (wrongly) that by "spec" you were thinking of US DOT,etc. so I just had to reply because too many people had been fed the line about "not legal in the US" by the dealers.
Someone posted a couple of weeks ago that they had confirmed with BMW NA that modifying / installing cosmetic items in Germany for ED cars would not be a problem and they would not remove it at the VPC. However, I would still feel more comfortable bringing the parts in the luggage (if they are not too big) and installing them here when the car comes in.
