Then why would companies like Dinan offer the following marketing material for their intakes then if they don't provide power gains?

There is a simple answer to this dilemma
Winter times when there is cold weather = Throw your cone intakes or CIA on
Hot weather = Throw your stock intake back on
Nuff said.

So in cold weather climates do the CAIs actually do something noticeable?

Noticeable performance wise no, Noticeable sound yes.
Some cars do react better to intakes than others, but even the best gains you wont actually feel a difference. You will gain a few horsepower most likely less than 10bhp, which means 6Whp, which isnt much at all. those that say they FEEL a difference just hear the sound and placebo effect kicks in and they think they feel a difference. If you run the 1/4 mile at 14.25 an intake will get you to 14.20 or less of a difference, which isnt noticeable at all.

So does anyone have a used one they don't want anymore? Send me a pm, I'd love to try one out.

ive got the Dinan intake thats pictured in this thread w/ dual RPi scoops....its literally worth it for the asthetics alone! lol (see the attached pic of my car).
but seriously tho, i have a few performance mods so i dont know which ones are the total game changer but i eat other 545i and 550i for breakfast anytime i see one.....and its far better when im on the freeway and have 75mph of cold air being optimized by those RPi scoops.
i say if you are thinking about this mod, pull the trigger! (but only after an aftermarket tune....and exhaust....and throttle body....*cough* Dinan *cough* )
