Don't pay more than 300. NOTHING OVER THAT. =) Seriously.
If you dont buy your springs through a shop, they are probably going to charge you based off of BMW service install sheets. The sheet online states its a 6 hour install. My local shop (Illtech) got it done in about 4 hours.
Its not an easy thing to do so if you buy your springs from your shop they will generally give you that $200-$300 labor rate plus the cost of springs.
Average joe walking in with his own springs is going to have a tough time getting a shop to install it (most wont do customer parts) and if they will it wont be cheap.
Illtech did mine for $300. They were the only shop that would do it. EVERY other shop from Kent, Puyallup, Seattle all wanted $800 for install and alignment.

yeah in richmond va area, there is not many place that does bmw work... one place gave me quote for 7.5 hr from all data, which gives around $800 to install.
I would rather take it to bmw and let them do it right than having regular shop do it.
do you have sheet that say how long it would take to install from bmw?

My Ride: Jet Black '05 545i, Sport/Premium Pkg, Steptronic, Adaptive Xenon, Nav, L7, Blue2th, PDC,
a shop near me that "specializes" in euro cars and lexus' was asking for $700 just to install, but also added an alignment wasn't necessary. i'd say if you're gonna mess with the suspension, always get an alignment, just to be safe.

You really dont need a shop to specialize in bmw, its just that the suspension is not something that is a straight swap on these cars. It actually is complex and I was going to DIY the install but after getting the car up on a lift, I was way over my head.
If you buy your springs through they shop which you would have it installed, they generally give you a better deal.
No I dont have the sheet. Illtech has a program that they pay monthly for that gives them access to BMW service sheets. They do basic maintanence too so they need to know what the dealer charges so they can be competitive.
