how do i de chrome my window surrounds

hi everyone, i have a 530d 2004 and i have the horrible tacky chrome surrounds around the windows, how can i change this to black like the m5? can i buy the genuine parts from bmw? or do i have to paint or cover? i have seen some de chrome tape but not sure if this is any good

Trimbrite makes an excellent blackout tape. The stuff works great but you need a little patience putting it on. Make sure you do it on a hot day so the tape has good flexability. I blacked out the crome trim on my 530 and it looks excellent -. Take your time to ensure you get no bubbles in the tape. I got it at Pep-boys for $6.00 a roll. You will need two rolls.

They should be the part numbers for the shadowline with the sports package - the M5 ones are high gloss i think....

Jake aka JDHart from this forum told me he got the shadowline trim for about $200 shipped via 2nd day from Gary At BMW Newport. Gary offers 25% discount for E60 members. So call him the part numbers and he will give you a quote with shipping. That's the best price you'll get if you go OEM. You must remove the chrome trim and install the new trim yourself. It does not go over the top.

When we did jags 545 we had them painted and then re fitted them

the pic shows you what has to come out sorry I havent got more detailed pics of when we did it, we also had the pillars painted gloss black to hence they had to be removed.
