In what sense are Jl's Sloppy, Ive had, L7's, Alphasonik's, Phoneix Gold and Clipse subs and the JL's sound better than all of them
The bass response on the w7 is not tight and accurate. They lack the cone control that is needed for great sound reproduction. It was JL's attempt to blend sq and spl in one sub. Also look at the subs that you are comparing it with. Alphasonik are you serious. Here it the deal. JL is over priced mediocre equipment. they just happen to be very good at marketing there junk. Now you can do other subs that will trump the JL and cost less money. Such as Image Dynamics, DLS, Fi, TC, critical mass ( but not the UL's cuz they cost a mint), Hertz, and I could go on.

Do you even know what you are talking about Alphasoniks are straight competition subs. I bet you my 1 W7 can top any other single sub you can put up against. there is so much power the back window and roof shack when the bass is tuned up.

Its not all about power. you fallen for the jl marketing scheme. alphasoniks might be SPL competition subs but not SQ subs.
if you all about how loud a sub can get buy any sub out there and it will it will get loud. why would you want your back window and roof shack to rattle. we driver bimmers not civics. i spent a lot of money on sound deadening just to make sure i dont get rattles. do a search and you will see.

The shop that did my install which is a jl dealer was very impress with my single 12" rainbow, so much that they wan to be a dealer. i still own 2 w6 subs that are sitting in my garage.

Trust me KU530 knows what he is talking about. ive spoken with him several times on the phone and i dont think anybody else here is knowledgeable as he is in car audio. if you spent time in car audio forums you will know who he is and what im talking about. i been into car audio for about 10 years and sure knows a whole lot more than me.

His car is gonna be a demo car in CES.

I will take that challenge. I very familiar with alphasonik and they are not great subs. Any sub can be loud with the right amount of power but the true test of a sub is can it be loud while being accurate and tight and very musical. Trust me the w7 is not that sub. I would take a w6 over the w7 anyday if I was forced to use JL. For the same money you same money you spend on a w7 I would take the RE xxx or the MX for that matter, or The DLS sp12, or the arc flatline 12, or DD 12, all these get nasty loud and still hold their composure aposed to the w7. Just my thoughts. I have been competeting and dealing with car audio for a long while. Do I claim to know everything no... but I do know a lot and I know how to build a system for any budget. Trust me on that.

All I am saying is that one can get better performing equipment for less money then buying JL. That was my suggestion to Black 525i.
