It's pretty normal.

I have brabus kit and get the strobe upon start up. Don't think it matters whether it's a cheap kit or an expensive one.

Even somebpeople with LED side lights have strobing upon start up.

O ok well its reassuring to know its a normal thing. I have LED side lights but luckily mine don't strobe. Jas where have you mounted your ballasts? I've just wedged them in gaps for the time being. I did this on my E46 and had no problems throughout the time I had the car. What do you think?

Did the ballast come with mounting brackets? you really should try to secure it down. A sharp brake might dislodge it. That said, the ballasts for my fogs are sliding around in my front bumper...
