I'm telling ya take the assembly off! Just do one side and see how easy it is to remove.
Trust me!
With the amount of time you save you will be like why did I not do like everyone said?
Besides you will melt and damage something if you just let the bulbs sit there!
That can be a $600-$1200 mistake you don't want to do.

Two screws you loosen and two you remove, then it is off.
Actually it is a couple more screws but it is really easier than doing the HID itself.

That looks really easy. But I really don't trust myself doing it lol. I'm going to have another go to try and lock the bulbs in place if I still cant after that then i guess i'm going to have to remove the lamps

If you are careful you are not going to break anything. The only thing I would do is to put some masking tape along the painted areas surrounding the headlight, so if you slip, you won't scratch anything. Other than that it is a no brainier and there is tons of space where you can hide the ballast under the headlight assembly. That way no one will ever see the non-factory wiring and ballast.

I've just noticed that when i push to start my engine and turn my lights on, they flicker several times before turning on. Does anybody know what causes this?
Thanks,

I'm going to mail the seller as the kit i have was £70. And a lot of members on another BMW forum have bought HIDs from this seller with no problems... I think I need to make sure all the connections are as tight as possible before I go any further though.
