After i installed my 6000k HID fogs their much brighter than my headlights as it appears from a distance. Should i get 8000k for the headlights to even out the fogs with the headlights are those the right one to install. Pix will be up tonight.

i recently added hid fogs and i had to go trough 3 sets of bulbs before i matched them to the 8k xenon bulbs i replaced in my headlamps. i actually think the last set of fogs i put in were 6k and they matched perfectly to the 8k bulbs in the headlamps....????

The Kelvin scale in regards to lights is a measure of color only, not brightness. In fact, an 8000K HID system is less bright than 6000K and that's less bright than 4200K (4200K -factory- is about the brightest, you get less bright the lower you go too, i.e. 3000K, etc). The reason the fog lights look brighter to you is because of the beam pattern of the fogs - how the light is distributed. On top of that, the 55W units are brighter than the stock 35W HID system. I've been looking for an easy conversion to 55W for the stock headlights myself.

... or if the fog kit was one of the lower quality ones, it could be the hid bulb doesn't align in the fog lamp housing exactly to spec.

I have the 35w 6000k for my fogs and things seem to match pretty good.
