Do you think the LED/HID Angel Eyes are too "Ricey"? It's one thing to make the headlights and fogs 6000K, but is it overkill with the Angel Eyes?
Ricey? u're 1/2 asian...what are you worried about

PM member jcool10181, or even MacFly (i think he was going to upgrade to HID AE's, and he even test fitted the GP LED AE's also)

Here's my other dilemma now... I just realized that the Fog Lights on the E70 X5 are ALSO used as the "Cornering Light Feature" on this model BMW. That said, would it look weird if I did HID Fogs and only one came on each time I turned or used my signal? Would it be better to just use HOEN, xenon-match bulbs? The only other alternative is to keep the lights on as manual, but then the whole point of the adaptive headlights is shot. This truck is not as easy as the E60.

If they're going on and off pretty regularly, HID is not the best choice. HID bulbs tend to die much quicker that way, they don't have a chance to reach full brightness, and they'll even grow dim faster. They're really not made for that kind of usage.

What size bulb is stock in the fogs?

Here's my .02 cents based on my experience... Calton wasn't the first to PM me for details.

The HID Angel Eyes Kit can be bought from Adam. I think i have all his info from the thread i posted. He sells the entire kit for $200. I only bought the cables from him because i already have an H8 kit from Elite Motorsports. Erick's kit got burnt out after 2-3 months of usage so now i took out the HID kit because i didn't want to spend for a new one. Also, I don't think it's worth going that route because the HID kit doesn't work like its supposed to be. First, it's a hassle to install because you have to access the ECU to tap for power. Second, the hid kit won't work properly when you leave the headlight switch to Auto. You have to put the switch to "0" position for it to turn off which i think can be a little annoying sometimes. Lastly, i don't know how to do a clean setup by having all the wires tucked. The engine bay looks butchered seeing the HID kit's cable hooked up to the ECU. I also don't want the dealer to notice that i've been tapping in the ECU especially when i have JB3 in there.

Other than the cons mentioned above, the HID kit is the brightest i've seen for the angel eyes period. It beats ALL other options out there for any BMW including umnitza's E46 M3 halos and any other LCI replacement bulbs available. HID angel eyes is the way to go if you're goal is to achieve the brightest and whitest angel eyes look. It's not true about the HID being a "blob" of light or not crisp enough. I also agree that the life span is very short.

Good luck with your decision guys.

And with that, I am NOT doing HID's for my Angel Eyes. I'm going to do the LED's instead. Thanks John!

Now I just need to decide if I want to do HID Fogs, due to the fogs on the X5 acting as the cornering lights on this car.
