Fred,
Would you please keep us update with the results when you take the car to the dealer.
One clarification; Is the new vehicle order needed for folding the mirrors using the door panel switch or for folding the mirrors automatically when you lock the car (aka M5)?
Thanks
Pete

Brought car to dealer today, and was told that vehicle order is not something we should mess with. It just like we're messing around with your car gene. I give up because I don't like the way M5 mirror folded - not my taste, and it'll be very costly if I insist since VO only comes from BMW NA in New Jersey. I already had window switch cluster installed, but useless.

Thanks for the update. So, I will skip the M5 mirror mod then.

Mine doesn't fold now but the rest of the features are working fine. Personally I don't like the folding position but it's kinda nice to have all features functioning well

Fred, somebody mentioned about the folding switch that we can install, I guess that wouldn't work either?

We can install the folding switch but it is useless since our cars cannot be programmed to have folding function.

lcc014,
If you want to retrofit M5 mirror, go for it. It does not make any sense to skip the mod just because of lacking folding function. To me, the car looks beautiful when it parks with those ears stickout instead of folding in like a contorsionist. Looks really weird.

Thanks for your explanation. I will keep it in my list

Shame we can't get the M5 mirrors done properly - my friend in a tiny Ford loves to point out how he can fold with his remote while I do it manually. I guess I'll have to make do with superior driving dynamics instead of comfy aesthetic gimmicks
