Help with my Oem M5 spoiler

I recently bought a oem m5 spoiler...however the 3 guiding fins seem to broken.....are the fins really significant for the spoiler?...should i wait to claim a new one...or should i just install it......

My Ride: 2011, X6 Hybrid . Alpine White , every option. 20" Conti' NON runflats,OEM trunk spoiler , LUX V3 AE's , HP Thunder Fogs , custom front bumper reflector delete........
The spoiler will find its natural position even without the fins. Try several dry fits and follow the installation post carefully , If you are at all unsure, have a body shop or your BMW dealer does this. If it is not applied properly it will lift .............. good luck

So...the fins are only used for guiding the spoiler?...im having a professional paint shop do it.....but i thought the fins might have some other reason for being there?
