Thanks for the photos and videos. Love to see people experimenting around with these sorts of things. Are you happy with the new setup or what?!

So far I love everything about it minus the rasp. I've searched around a lot on the e46 forum and this rasp seems to be normal for bmw engines once you free them up.

Is that all you've done (get rid of the cats) to get that sound? Did the check engine light come on after you gut the cats or was that there before?

I also have a B&B triflow muffler.

the check engine light came on after, its a increased emissions warning. I have a O2 simulator to deal with that I just haven't installed it yet.

Mine are from bimmerbrakes, I don't believe he sells on ebay. The reason I went with him and not ebay is because no one on ebay would ship to Canada. I am told that bimmerbrake's headers don't have any issues with fitment, some ebay headers have issues with the O2 sensor holes.

You would have to ask John, I know that the install process takes a long time. Also you will have to see if John can weld because you will definitely either have to mod the midpipe or the headers. From experience it is much easier to mod the midpipe.

the O2 sims can either be bought from bimmerbrakes, or more commonly O2sims.com
Keep me updated on your install, I'm interested to see if the x-pipe gets rid of the exhaust rasp. Did you get the ceramic coated stett headers for the e46? If so then I guess you will be modding the midpipes to fit? I'm currently debating whether to try an x-pipe or a Aero AR25 welded into the midpipe to try and get rid of some of the rasp.

yes i got the ones for the e46 i don't mind modding the mid pipe its better than having to make a custom header for the car i can't wait to get the header and x pipe and see what happens i hope it doesn't stay raspy if not ill put in the ar25 resonators and hopefully keep the sound i already have
