I just got mine, but am thinking I should order the dry filter now before I move forward with install.

Anyone on this forum have this issue?

 

On my 330i I had a CAI with a K&N. After maybe 2 months I got a service engine light that didn't go out. I was smart enough to remove the CAI before taking the car in for service, because it turned out to be a bad MAF (it was replaced not just cleaned). I put the CAI back on after and had no more problems.

The service engine light had come on 2-3 times (but gone back out) 6-8 months before I installed the CAI. Because of this I have never assumed it was the direct cause (MAF could have already been going bad), but knew if I had not taken it off I would have been in trouble with the warranty claim.

If spraying some CRC MAF cleaner on the wire is all that is needed that is not a big deal though -- pretty easy to do.

 

Just based on this I would'nt do it , dry filter yes.... any naughty stories from Vegas ??
