- '02 Benz S600- Navy blue with Grey interior, short wheel base & fully loaded
Had this kit professionally installed here in Egypt.
Installed the brain unit under the lining panel so its totally out of sight. Hardwired into the the lighter and managed to hide the aux input plug and wire inside the glove box.
Installed the ipod connection under the CD slot to place the ipod there and used velcro to attach the screen nest to the ashtray.
Installed the wheel behind the idrive which allows me to switch easily from the idrive to the ipod wheel. Now i sort of have 2 idrive wheels hehe
have to say its the best integration so far until the idrive module is out. Sound is crisp & clear too

Advantage is you don't have to touch your ipod. u use the wheel control and the monitor instead. Screen show the ipod menu; playlists, artists, genre etc.
this is way too much cables, and extras all around the dash and centre console.....
but nice to know this is available..... good job

hmm..... well do not get me wrong but I still do not see an advantage as opposed to pressing a button directly on the ipod.....

Thats pretty awesome! ive seen the kit on ebay and the like, but never installed. I think its a cool mod to do. Its better for security if you keep the ipod in the glovebox, then its out of sight, but you can still use it!!! It also says "harman kardon" which is cool to have in your car anyway!

however, i dont like the fact that there are two many cables around.
is it possible to put the display in the ashtray?
if so, i would be easy to hide all cables and also to hide the display if you dont listen to the ipod. (its uggly, especially during night because the blue color doesnt fit to bmw's red/orange).
thanks for sharing your solution.

no matter where you put the iPod display, whether it's on the iDrive screen or HK display, it's still dangerous to take your eyes of the road and navigate the menu.
But maybe you can try placing the ipod dial on the side of the steering rack. I did that with my Sony ericsson Bluetooth dials in my Cayenne. The bluetooth scrren towards the A pilar.
I'll let the fiancee do the navigating since she has the rights to what music is played inthe car
