I have learned a great deal browsing the site and am happy to have found the site. Very knowledgeable community!

I purchase an 05 530, premium & nav in November. It does not have the HID lamps. I asked the service dept at Peter Pan BMW in San Mateo about upgrading. They told me that the main wiring harness would have to be replaced and would cost thousands. It this the case? Can the lights be fitted and plugged into the existing harness without the adaptive functionality?

Hi Rab,

The cost for the retrofit kit is about $2000. Yes, two thousand dollars. There will be 5 hours of labor on top of that. Now, you do the math.
I go with the after market which use the current wiring and project housing. Total cost is less than $999.99
