I have the H8 Thunder Bulbs on my 08 535. I fully agree with the OP. My outer rings are dim and the inner rings are bright. Looks odd.
But I am happy that the yellow is gone and is replaced with pure white.
Thanks to Gene (Post #5 above) for giving us the first clear explanation for why that brightness un-evenness happens.

I just swiched from GP 7500K to MTEC Cosmo blue (4750K).
Though, more expensive, they are defnitely brighter to my eye during the day. Less blue=brighter.
When Xenon's go on at night and AE's are dimmed, so they don't quite match Xenon color, but still do not look yellow.

I have a set of M-tec 4750 super white bulbs...tried them in my AE's and compared them to my GP Thunder 8500....the GP's seemed brighter. I ended up putting the M tec bulbs into the fogs as they seemed to match the xenons better than the GP 8500's (as those were too blue....)
Wonder if there is much difference between m tec super white vs. cosmo blue...as they are both the same temp....4750

The super whites are 4350k and should be even brighter, strange
I also bought matching cosmo blue 4750 H3's
I can do photos, but I have pretty much found that pictures of lights to be fairly unreliable, bacuase of the way different camera meter.
Went out the other evening at dusk with just AE's on in the parking light (bright AE) position and noticed for the first time since I took out the stock one, that they could actually illuminate signs and reflect off of other cars. Definitely brighter than the GP's.

OK :
I took some pictures and like all of the lighting photos I've ever seen , they suck!
But here they are anyway:
The bulb on the left is the GP 7500K , on the right is the MTEC Cosmo Blue

The left is the MTEC Cosmo Blue, the right is the GP 7500K, Notice the more light flare on the left. It is brighter

Again , notice more flare from the MTEC on the left

The outer ring on the MTEC looks brighter,

Now a shot of both MTEC's to compare to the Xenon's, note that the AE's are now dimmed

This is not a bad representation of the color of the the MTEC AE's and H3's. The definitely do not look at all yellow. They actually look a little pinker than the Xenons when dimmed. I am not sure why, but they do. When at full power the color is very close to the Xenon.
