What is the offset of the 20" you are running?
I will have to look again I am running staggered 8.5 front 10" in rear I will have to look at my order form to give you the exact offset.

I did get it washed and yes that 1200 bucks is about right that is from Bimmer dealer. my friend that works in service told me that is what it would be after I called he confirmed. I have not finished the car yet work, kids, dinner, bath time it is not a high priority, since I dont drive it everyday. My friend is sending me some print outs of how to dissasemble the front so that I can post up. Calton if that guy is only going to charge 400 buck you are straight ripping him off. to you. If I where a shop and charging to do this install I would charge about 800 before alignment.
Carlton always finds the deals! I called around and can't find a decent shop that wants to touch the job...period, so it's the dealer or nothing. They must all be afraid of the xi. Maybe I should take that drive to Carltons mechanic, but you know the price will double after he does the job once. Can't wait to see your pictures, especially running 20" wheels. I have 18" style 135m's and should have gone at least to 19"'s. That will be another treat when I find the cash. I thought 20" were a nono on the xi's. The dealer told me no way, and it could void warrantee with anything over 18" and staggered sets. Any problems or issues yet?

My camera is malfunctioning so I will try to get pics up asap at least the car is 3/4 done so you can get an idea. You can do 20's my dealer tried to get me to buy them from them. That won't void your warrenty. Besides they will have to prove that what ever you added to your car was the direct cause of the malfunction. I called a few more shops around here to see what the price would be my neighbor has a 330 xi and when I told him that I was lowering my 530 he seemed really interested. No shops wanted to touch it. even a lot of the shops did not even want to do the alignment. Saying something that bmw makes you add sand bags on the floor pans I will have to confur with my tech on that one. You can drive down to Caltons guy but I bet you once he pulls that car apart he will change his mind. That price is going to go up. Besides I know we all want this done cheap but this all wheel drive thing has me nervious. I am fourtunate that I know a tech from BMW and he is going to make sure I did not screw any thing up when I take to him for the alignment. This is a major job and I am really shocked that even I tried this myself.

I called another BMW dealer in town, and they want to charge me $120/hour/corner, estimating a total cost of $480. Seeing as how it takes only like 30 mins to do the rears, it's really dependent on how long it takes to change the fronts that will determine the final cost. I don't have much time right now to get this job done, gotta wait until July or so. But C, definitely post up your pics ASAP when you install them this weekend

Well seeing how I work during the day and have 2 kids to take care of in the evening and by the time I get them in bed I am dead tired but I will finish on Sat. My car sits in the garage most of the time anyway. I commute to work so my wifes car became my daily drive which those springs took me 45 mins to change. BMW front struts= pain.

KU - I'm gonna beat you to the punch I think. I assume you'll finish the job tomorrow? Spoke to my installer. I should have my car back by 12 noon, EST. Dropping the car off at 8:30am. I'll probably post the results at some point tomorrow evening. I can't wait!

Thumbs down

It's done! Yeah baby! I can't tell you guys how much better the ride is. Still comfortable and not too stiff, but noticeably better on cornering and hard cornering.

As for the ride height....WHAT RIDE HEIGHT!?!?!?! The gap is GONE! I can fit maybe 1 finger in the rear and 1 1/2 fingers in the front. It looks AWESOME!!!

Oh, and the best part too....I paid $320 to have it done! Yes, $320 with alignment. He did the job in 3 hours. I am very happy.

I'll start a new thread with pix, later today. I have to go out with the wife now and do some shopping for our vacation next week to Aruba.
