Green/Yellow Wire

Hi everyone,
I know this topic has been done to death. But I hardwired my Garmin Nuvi. The problem is that the unit is wired into a power source that stays on even when the ignition is off. So a couple of questions:
1. Is this due to comfort access?
2. I have a 2008 528i and am sure I don't see the Green or Green/Yellow wire going towards the mirror. The installer couldn't find it either.
I'm wondering if any 2008 owners have had success with a hardwire. For the life of me, I do not see a green or green/yellow wire going towards the windshield.
