Height Adjustment - KSport vs Traditional (KW, HR)

Ring A
Ring B
Ring F
Shaft C
Shaft D

Traditional Way to Adj. Height
Loosen Ring B
Loosen Ring A
Tighten Ring B

KSport Way to Adj. Height
DO NOT TOUCH RING A or B. The spring should be snug in there NOT TIGHT.
Loosen Ring F
Wrap your hands around Shaft C and turn it clockwise to lower into Shaft D.
Tighten Ring D

So why is KSport's way better? Imagine if you did it the traditional way, (1) you're altering the spring travel which causes the bounce and (2) it also causes the ping ping noise when you turn. Now keep in mind, not everyone experiences the sounds if they don't lower the car enough.

Make sense?

Interesting. All I know is that PJ loves his KSports. And his ride looks badass with them.

That makes a lot of sense. I think JIC also does it that way

Since you helped out on one of the installs, I was just curious. Is the ride-height set to the original factory height out of the box for these or are they lower? If lower, by how much would you say?

they are higher than factory and it's not recommended that you adjust them before they are on your car. there is very little room to slide the coilover in so you actually want to make them as short as possible. then once they are in, you'll set the height settings.

Wait, I am confused. If I want them to be as short as possible to put them on with the least amount of work, how do I do that without adjusting the height? If the out-of-box height is taller than the factory setting, would it not make sense to shorten them first?

LOL you're right Scott, I am very happy with mine so far. Stiff yet comfortable ride, better handling, better steering feedback - yep, they're great.

there is a lip on the spindle where the OEM strut sits and where the collar of the KSports needs to sit if it's to be installed properly - it has GOT to be properly seated there. Out of the box the KSports have the collar level with the end of the strut, once installed and dropped to the ground with the default setting it sits about 1 inch higher than stock. Then you can adjust from there, turning the shock boy inside the collar lowers the ride height without affecting spring rate, you can lower it quite a bit too, I am fairly low and I could still go another 1.5 in easily.

(part D in the pics Michael posted is the collar I am talking about)
