328 is slow. 530 is also slow. i think the 530 is less slow than the 328. goto the track and race for pink slips.

Ahhh ... and where would it be on Dinan? I like to get it too ... as you said it's Dinan ... gotta be good, right?
Also, pls share your suspension mods to the rest of xi owner around here ... I'm sure they like to find out more ... at least I do.

according to dragtimes.com, it seems that most stock 2007 328s run the quarter in the high 14s at around 95 miles per hour... stock e60 530s seem to run the 1/4 in the low 15s at around 92-95 mph. i have to thing an xi is a little slower.

Dinan doesnt show any engine mods for the 530 on their website other than throttle bodies, so its tough to say what a stage 2/3 performance package adds.

while this doesnt offer any conclusions, were i the op, i may not race the kid for any more than lunch money and preferably not in the presence of any hot chicks.

No offense OP but chances are if you were to race (drag from a roll on a closed course presumably) it would be close. Dinan is great and reputable, but doesn't work miracles. The E60 (non-M5) are pretty maxed power wise, any gains we see are minimal and mainly "butt dyno" gains. The E60 is a family sedan and built like a tank, with the matching weight specs. Go against a sports sedan/coupe (I assume the other kid has a E90 or E92) that is much lighter, and well, it's going to be close. I predict it comes down to reaction time and driver ability.

I've personally seen a remapped (dyno tested +18hp) 2005 530i (which is obviously lighter and quicker than xi) getting owned by a stock 2006 330d. Several times in a row, too. But the 330d driver was a lot more experienced.

Just looked up, there's a whopping 230kg (over 520lbs) difference between a 328i and 530xi, needless to say, that is a HUGE handicap, dinan here or there.
So yeah...but still don't give teenagers BMW's
