Was to the shop to day to inquire about an AUX install for my iPOD. The electrician said that they were releasing a special AUX for iPOD with iDrive-integration later this year, and adviced me to wait! He said though, that he did not think it would coexits with an CD-changer...

Forget that stuff. The most interesting stuff is what Motorola is leaking via their "coming soon" products.
They show wireless BT devices like the "Burton Helmet & Padded Hat" which is basically a hat with a set of bluetooth enabled stereo headphones in it that connect to phones and iPODs. The more interesting is the "Burton Rudex Jacket" which has a sleeve-mounted control panel that connects to the iPOD or phone via bluetooth. This same techology means future iPODs will definitely be able to interface with compatible bluetooth automotive systems, possibly even our E60. Hopefully it won't require anything more than a code upgrade.

Maybe true for most cases but Dension has been successfully integrating Ipods into BMW's for a couple of years now so I am more likely to believe them. However, projected dates are always missed and ignored.

AND not only for the Ipod but for all aux-in equipments like dvx-pod, archos, creative and so on...

Why wait when you can get the aux input now? If something better comes out in a year or two you can upgrade again. I believe the aux input is the best solution. You can even hook up DVD sound, XM radio sound, computer sound or whatever you want. Maybe in few years someone will come out with a gadget that replaces the Ipod and you will still be able to hear it via aux input.
