My Ride: '05 545i, silver gray, black leather with anthracite maple wood, sport package, premium sound, navigation, cold weather package, electric rear sunshade, folding rear seat, satellite radio prep, PIAA 4150K fogs, red rear reflectors, hardwired Valentine One
Here's a post from m5board, where a tuner did a few dyno runs on an M5.
Run #1--stock.
Run #2--no secondary filters.
Run #3--no secondary filters, AA ECU software.
Max rear wheel HP / Torque
Stock: 417.2 HP / 291.7 lb/ft
No secondary filters: 426.1 HP / 296.8 lb/ft
Gain: 8.9 HP / 5.1 lb/ft

Of course there is going to be a gain .... nice to see Active Autowerke provide some proof (albeit for an M5).
These are not huge gains ... but they are FREE ... and they are surprisingly noticeable. I bet the engine management software was never tweaked to account for these additional filters, and now the engine runs as it should.
Here's a test for skeptics:
1) stick cotton balls up your nose
2) run 5k
3) remove cotton balls
4) run another 5k
Notice any difference? Class dismissed.
These are not huge gains ... but they are FREE ... and they are surprisingly noticeable. I bet the engine management software was never tweaked to account for these additional filters, and now the engine runs as it should.
