Because you can do a lot of things with the offsets for the xi with a variety of rims, you could probably get away with a 285 in the rear, but I would suggest you do not do any rim below ET45 or higher than ET55. It makes sense that if C did 10mm spacers with no rubbing on an ET45 rear CSL rim that you could keep it at ET45 and gain the 10mm from the tire width instead of the 10mm spacer.

Therefore, with a 285 in the rear, you are out of luck with 20" Breyton's, with a ET35. You will be extended outward 10mm too far...major rubbing. You'd have to stick to 275's with an ET35 rear on a 9.5" rim to maximize your push outward, without using spacers. The 10" rim will fit, but a bit risky if you go ET35 Breyton's. I'd to go with a slightly deeper offset to be safe with this width rim. Stay between ET55 (OEM recommended offset, with 275 rear) and ET40 in that case...whether you get there via spacers or without...with the latter number being optimal for the biggest bump-out.

PROBLEM SOLVED: Why not go with the 19" size they offer...same wheel, in the same offsets but with the correct widths??? And no spacers required. You'd be right at the edge of the fender with, theoretically, no rubbing. You can change the tire sizes in this link to the correct ones. (245/35 F, 275/30 R) http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/WheelCloseU...&sort=Brand

The VM CSL's or Miro CSL's are the easiest way to avoid all of these offset issues. Plus the CSL's have the 5 small alignment holes like OEM rims have, for alignment & balancing purposes and also have the correct OEM hub-size (overlooked by many when ordering after-market rims).

Check some rims out here as well: http://www.modbargains.com/dept.aspx?dept_id=12-005-005

Personally, I'd recommend between ET30-ET40 (front) and ET35-ET45 (rear). And keep the wheels 8.5" F and 9.5" rear (if you want staggered, 245/35 F, 275/30 R). Just to be safe, I'd shoot more for middle-ground.
With 285 in the rear and offset 35 (breyton GTS), you will definitely have to roll the fenders.. I even have to cut/trim my bumper with a grinder to solve the rubbing.. Mine is lowered with h&r sport btw..
