Hi guys im thinking of changing my key to the new style fob by buying the below
kit it requires opening of old fob and removing internals and putting them into new fob and getting key cut

BMW 3,5,7 SERIES, X5,X3,Z4,E38,E39,E46,M3,M5 REMOTE KEY FOB FLIP CONVERSION CASE | eBay

only question i have are the E60 2003- 2006 pre facelift keys rechargable from ignition or not? thanks

i dont think they are but would like to know your opinion and proof

main reason i would prefer the smaller fob like key very similar size to my old e93 and range rover thanks

2006+ with the newer electronic key are rechargable in ignition...the 03-55 plate ones cant be because theyre not an electronic key, they are just metal keys that go into a barrel!

The standard keys are rechargeable in the ignition. Comfort Access FOB's are not.
