I'm sure all of these topics have been discussed at length somewhere on the forum but I'd appreciate some help answering all this? I'm desperately trying to pass the time til my 550 arrives in late february at best! :'( I ordered NAV and I'm wondering if there are any cool aftermarket TV's or if it is even possible to install a flipout in the dash of a Canadian version 550? I understand that you can't get the M Sport pkg in the US, which is odd to me? Apparently the cars that come to Canada are more European flavor? Anyhow not sure if it is possible to install a tv? Same goes for command start. With comfort access etc is it possible to install a command start? And has anyone managed to find a spot other then the dash to install a radar detector or jammer? Any ideas Rudy? You seem to know every last detail about these cars!

I installed my V1 using Don Juan's excellent hardwire instructions:

I have the main unit at the top of the windshield, just to the right of the rear view mirror, and the concealed display in front of the MPG gauge:

You should give search a try--most of these topics have been discussed several times before:

thank you very much for the help! Umm what is rgb unit?? Something to do with radar? And I never saw anything about tv in my sales brochure...and I never even got a brochure til 3 weeks after I ordered the car! I did read the install process about the radar, Stream, I was just wondering if their was a less intrusive methid or radar jammer more specifically? And I have yet to see anything on command start???

RGB = Red, Green, Blue for the color standard for TVs (and other devices) - all I can contribute to the TV issue. A tech/sales guy (Dominic?) is on the forum from tvfornav that has products for the E60. I think if you do some searching you will find some good stuff.

I have what I call a temporary V1 install. But I may have less interferance with visor in my E63 than the E60 does. I started right of the mirror, but switched to the left side about a month ago and am very happy with the install. With the tinted windshield it is hard to pick out that I have a detector. The cable is hidden in the trim (telephone cable) and gets power from the passenger foot well socket. But you could/should be able to do this with any detector of choice - still V1 is a favorite around here. I do need to add a new photo to my gallery to show location of detector.

By command start are you referring to "remote" start like prior to getting to your car? If so it is possible that some Finnish or Norwegian members may have done this. But most go with engine heaters to enable easy start if frigid cold.

There are radar detector systems (and jammers) that are more custom installed and more discrete--Escort makes some.
