Flaking chrome on rims

My Ride: 2005 530i sport, premium package, 10 speaker. Roof spoiler and trunk spoiler. Custom painted TSW Indy 500 rims.
I was quoted $175 per wheel to re-chrome. But it requires taking the wheel off and shipping it out. Total time without a wheel would be 4-6 weeks. I plan to just get new wheels and sell these on e-bay. I figure rims is a good place to start modding.
What do you guys do with your stock bumpers and rims when you upgrade?
