Yeah I tried 3 different setting of the spring and none worked. Possibly I have to buy a whole set from BMW then. Where would I get the best price?

Well I have lost patience with my trunk.
Checked online and there are 2 types of trunk shock being sold. Genuine one for 160 bucks and aftermarket one for 60 bucks less. Anyone experienced with the aftermarket one? Is it as good?

Replaced the strut within the spring with the STRONGARM 4514 and adjusted right spring for maximum resistance and trunk opens 3/4 of the way. Strut is still overcoming the resistance of the 2 springs. Will try placing a broom handle to support trunk in full open position for a few days and see if the strut fully compressed will loose a little force. As it is now is still better than trunk lid trying to rip the hinges from the car.
