So looks to me $400-500 sounds like a fair or good price for springs w/ lowering. Do you guys suggest to let the springs settle for maybe a week before haveing an alignment done?
This is $400 for just the install. The front of the car looks easy, but the rear looks tough. The shop I'm going to was referred to me by member, LI-M5, on M5board. This shop has done countless M series and standard cars with all sorts of mods. They seem really good and are very honest. The owner wants me to sit there and watch him do one front and one rear, so I can see how long it takes.

i just got alignment there at firestone. the place i got my springs installed was trendix. but unfortunately now, trendix is a fraud company and has scammed plenty of e90 members.

c, check m5board or ask bmwbonehead if he knows where to get springs installed. good luck

edit: springs+installed cost me 420. anything over 500 is a rip off!!

I remember them advertising $425 sport springs and install and $450 for race springs. NVM just saw the whole dispute from E90 forum. Steve is no longer there and things seem be downhill. If anyone finds that same deal please share your finds. thanks

I had my springs installed by a very experienced shop. It took aproximately 1 hour tops. I was also having new tires put on my new wheels. The springs were installed before they finished the wheel balancing on the Road Force machine.

Unless you have active steering, it is as simply as removing the wheel assembly and replacing the spring. There is one screw that holds everything in place. I can be accessed from the trunk and hood. I watched the entire assembly.

Anyone who tells you that it takes 3.5 hours does not do this for a living and does not understand your car.

There are a lot of boutiques that specialize in wheels and mods. My installation cost $250. I could have had the job done for $150 if I had gone to the cheaper place that did not deal with high end cars.

I'll pay $400 if the place is top notch. And considering that VT paid close to $1000 makes me feel even better.
Yeah, keep reminding me how anal I am in only having a BMW shop do any of the work on my car and I paid for it. Suffice it to say, I'm never going back there.

I guess I will have to keep calling around and finding a place that can do it around 1 hour.

In 1 hour? Alex - The job is going to at least take 3-4 hours.

I can not see why this would take 3-4 hours. Have lowered many cars and it has never taken me 4 hours. Now granted this is a BMW but there should be nothing different than any other strut assembly since there is not self leveling system on this car. But if I am missing something then fill me in.

I was saying above that mine took approximately one hour with an experienced shop. I watched the entire thing.
Perhaps the Xi model has more stuff to work around.

Best regards,
