I would buy one too but there?s one problem at least: at the moment I?ve 6,5! but I want to upgrade next year to 8,8. I guess the mod is worthless when I get a new, bigger Display ???

I have a question, I'd really like to buy this, and my friend has an X5 that he custom ordered with the DVD player, however he wanted the moonroof and I guess wasn't paying attention and just payed for both, so now there is a DVD player in the back, and no screen inside the car. Needless to say he isn't bound by the same financial constraints I am, however he said he would give it to me, is it possible to retrofit that into my e60 with this thing. It isn't the DVD navigation unit, but actually the BMW DVD kit?

Some questions:

1. Anyone tried running the RCA video output from a PC/laptop through this unit? How is the screen quality? I'm betting it's not too good because RCA composite video is limited to around 220 horizontal lines (or so Google tells me).
2. What is the native resolution of the 6.5" iDrive screen?
3. It would be nice if future versions of this unit included VGA/DVI inputs.

256 colours? That's really poor. I guess how is possible to enjoy TV/DVD with such a limited colour psectrum.

Hi,

Well, if that's the case (I mean 256 colours) it doesn't really bother me... screen size is so small anyway... this ain't home theatre

Ack, that resolution may be OK for DVD/TV but is gonna blow for computers. The Xenarc 7" I've attached to my dash can do 800x480 native. Wonder if it can be upgraded, heh.
