Major crisis....Dom I recieved the modules today and I installed it following the instructions. But the screen went blank and has stayed blank.I then reconnect the screen back to the normal status and I still get a blank screen (not even a backlight) Problem, big big big problem.
I have a second screen that I won from ebay, I know this screen works because I tested it before. I tried plugging this in and I also now get a blank screen. Is some thing broken or shorted. Is this going to cost me thousands of pounds to get working again.
I call Dom at TVandNav straight away he had left the office for the day, so I got help from Vincent. He told me to try two things. ONE, was to recconnect everything back to normal and leave the key in ignition in the OFF position for 15 mintues. and see if the screen resets. TWO, was to disconnec the battery for 15 minutes.
NEITHER worked I still have a blank screen!!! Oh no. Dom was this a fault box??? is my i-drive broken????

Samuelpang:
Have you done the following:?
1. Remove interface and ALL ASSOCIATED cables?
2. Put the BMW cables DIRECTLY BACK into the iDrive screen?
3. Make sure that BOTH BMW cables (black in colour) are in the iDrive screen. One is a black plastic multiconnector that has 4 coloured wires coming out of it - this is the power to the iDrive screen. The other cable is the actual LCD signal cable.
You say that you won another screen on ebay and that you have tested in your car before and it works. Is this correct?
What size iDrive screen do you have? 6.5" or 8.8"?
All the Best

I have tried this already and I still have a blank screen, what do you think has happened??? has the system crashed??
The screen in the car is a 6.5 and the one i won on ebay was 8.8. I have tested this before and it worked 100% the only think was that the 8.8 screen was out of alignment and it did not fill the screen, but it worked.
NOW, I have nothing no picture at all!!
Can anyone help!!!

Where did you connect the Interface POWER to???? Need to be precise here!
Also,
Did you remove the BLACK multiconnector which supplies power to the iDrive unit (on the back of the iDrive?)???

Hi Hobi
Hope all is well. I wasn't at the shop, so Samuelpang spoke to my brother Vinny. Vinny told him to try a few thing, but they didn't work. I emailed Samuelpang and asked him to make sure he didn't hook up the cable in back of LCD panel wrong when he hooked up the interface. Please check and make sure you didn't blow any fuses. I have NEVER had this problem before so please let me know what you discover. At worst case Samuelpang put everything back the way it was and take the car back to the dealer. The car will still be under warranty no one will know you were back there because you didn't cut anything. Please let me know how you make out and how I can help. It sounds like there is no power to the screen. You can check this with a volt meter.
Thanks Dominic

[/quote]I have hooked everything back the way it was already and I have also checked if there is power going to the screen too. There is power from PIN 1 of the Power connector to the screen.
The other thing, is the other end of the LCD connector go striaght into the Radio? is the Radio built-in with the i-drive? because the radio is working.....
