Just going to list them numerically.

1. Will an upgraded intercooler be a performance gain for the 535i? Can this be done?

2. When I was running my little turbocharged Honda Civics on the street, I always had a
blow off valve on my set up. All of my cars were stick. Can you put a BOV on an automatic?

3. Dinan S2 software....Does anyone have this on their 535i? I'm curious as to the 1/4 mile
times of the car.

4. Are there any aftermarket companies that sell products for the 535i? I am having a hard time
finding such parts as a downpipe etc.

5. Air intake. I can't find anything listed on Dinan's website regarding a CAI or even an better intake.
Any suggestions?

thanks

Don't put a blowoff valve on, too many things can go wrong.

Is this because it is an automatic or just the nature of BMW engines/setup?

Correct me if I'm wrong....but the wastegate (if it has one) serves the same
purpose as the bov?

Check posts by pennetta who has dinan stage2 on his 535. Check dbae1978 posts. He has jb3 with some other mods and is very knowledgaeble about mods. You can also check on bimmerfest.com, n54tech.com (forced induction forum) and m5board.com (this is focused on M5s but a lot of the companies they use seem to have options for the 535). Here are a few I've run across.

http://www.activeautowerke.com
http://www.racdyn.com/Localized/Nort...D_NA_Intro.cfm
http://raceprecision.com/

Good luck and let us know what you end up with.

thanks, isn't n54tech.com devoted to the JB and Proceed guys?

At this point I'm probably going to go with Dinan. Don't want to
mess with CEL's or car going into limp mode and don't want to
constantly have to worry about the stealership finding out about
my "unauthorized mods". I can take apart a civic with both hands
tied behind my back. I know those cars inside and out. Don't have
the time nor energy to devote to the BMW like I did with Hondas when
I was in my early 20's.

Just want plug and play to give me a little extra hp.

Dang, how could I forget gene.

Check out the ECU flash by RacePercision. Talking to dbae its better than the jb3 without any limp mode issues. Drop him a note. Dinan stage2 is a great option as well. It really depends on what you want.

I have read that upon initial install, they can throw CEL's and other assorted
goodie error messages.

In my ripe old age of 33, I think if I saw one of those I would panic and
drop dead from a heartattack. I just don't have the patience anymore
to be messing with cars with that much involvement.

Also, I am still under warranty and don't want the Nazi's at the local
stealership to give me a hard time because of the JB or Proceed.

Believe me, I really want to go that route.....I'm just too chicken to do so.
(unless someone can convince me otherwise?).

I would have no problem dropping the cash to go balls out on this car.
It would be really cool to see just what this engine can do with the car
being fully tuned/modded. P&P, better internals, upgraded turbos.....
I'm guessing an 11 sec. car, easy.

n54tech.com tends to be team JB

e90posts tends to be team proceed along with jb boys...

I suggest you spend time on both sites, they will definitely get you some great info about each product..
http://www.n54tech.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=3
http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=58

both the new proceed and jb3 versions have been scanned on the newer DME's and SW (32.1+) and no tune/manipulation/warranty code found...both proceed and JB work hard to make sure that their products remain "undetectable"

LIMPS and CELs tend to happen when you've been running the car too long/turbos get too hot....but on as a daily driver, rare to see or hear of limps or cel's thrown, unless somehow the install was botched...

another option you can go with if you are scared to go into the ecu is the jb+ or SSTT, both plug into the TMAP sensor. Gains are not as significant due to no timing and fuel pressure controls that a ecu piggy back tune does...if your e60 is pre 29.2 SW, which I doubt (since your e60 is newer), you could get the jb+ and crank to different boost settings since it is adjustable (+2psi to about +5psi). The SSTT is set and can not be adjusted from +3.5 psi. Currently the sstt manufacturers stated no codes cels or limps with 32.1+ SW, but no scans reported for tune/manipulation/warranty codes.

For peace of mind, go with DINAN, gains will not be as big or agressive as a PB, but still much improved from stock.

I cannot comment on the RPI powerchip ecu flash as I have not read anything about it, hopefully dbae1978 will chime in about it...

BMW is also scheduled to release their own performance tunes sometime later this year, press releases have only mentioned the 135 and 335, I hope the 535i will be addressed as well...

Best bang for your buck IMO, JB3>proceed>jb+

as far as the intercooler goes, no aftermarket set-ups yet due to the oil lines that run underneath the stock IC, different from the 135's and 335's....

CAI=none out there with proven gains AFAIK. Stock box vs. cone intakes are still debatable as well...
DP's: nothing as of yet, a few feeler threads here and there for interest in them, but most are R&D right now for the 535i AFAIK

***we've butt heads in a few posts/threads ynottony, but in the end we are all here to learn and talk about our e60's...GL with your mod decision(s)
