fake performance grilles?
bought a set of performance grilles from this auction http://www.ebay.com/itm/200807147585...84.m1497.l2649 but the slats look matte although the outer surroundings are gloss black. are they like that or was I scammed? the slats have this part number 51137027061 while there's a paper with the number 51712155447 in the box and in the surrounding parts. for all of you who have performance grilles please check if your slats are gloss black or matte and let me know. thanks

I got mine from the dealer. Like you I was surprised as well. My car came with the original chrome. Then I tried the aftermarket matte black. I then bought the OEM black gloss but I haven't installed them yet. However, the OEM black center slats seemed slightly a tad glossier than the aftermarket matte but not quite gloss. In a sense that's why I described them as satin.
At this time I currently have the stock Chrome surround with the center "satin" black slats.

i think that's the route I'm going as I couldn't afford the whole window trim glossy black so in the meantime I bought the glossy center parts (b pillar and the c pillar) so my car will have chrome surrounds in the window and glossy center parts like the E class so I think the chrome kidney and black slats will complete the look while I buy the rest of the glossy black trim
btw btw do your slats have a part number enraved on the back? mine say 51137027061 behind one of te slats.
in any case, do you think it would look cooler with glossy slats, I am thinking of painting paint em

Mine are installed so I don't know if I can get to the part number. Paint it gloss. Try it. You can use gloss plasti-dip and just peel it off if you don't like it.
