I am going to phone the dealer tomorrow and ask how much to re-program the LCM to disable the rear tails but retain brake lighting. Do you think it's possible?
folks, just got done installing the european lci taillights to the pre-lci US car.
very pretty light to look at!!
- there is the initial strobe flashing or blinking (about 5 seconds)..very faint only seen in darkness.
- the lcm will still send out control signal to check for lamp out....1/4 of a second blink, once every 5 minutes? for turn signal & the rest of the taillight. we do not see the taillight flash because our eyes cannot perceive the difference from the light that is already turned on at night.
- i have cip version 24, without resistor will give ERROR msg (turn signal malfunction), and 2x faster than normal blinking. i added the resistor, it solved the fast blinking problem & no error.
i eliminated the 3 backlight bulbs to make the light rods stand out. there is one issue i need to fix, but glad to report no error msg. i'll get back with you guys later today. thanks those here for matching the pins & diagram
...saved myself some headache!

So did you move the brake into the circle area? If not where is your brake light?

RootKit, what is your wiring setup and what size of resistors did you use?
Thanks in advance.

I have Progman 25 in a US pre-lci car. I purchased the group buy euro lci tail lights. Can I use rootkits new wiring (when he posts it) to acheive his lci-look light rods with no back lighting? I wont need resistors because of the progman 25, is this correct?

I just got my lights today. Any updates on a plug-n-play retrofit cable? From glancing at the posts, it looks like you guys are still trying to iron this out.
I saw that but thought there were still some issues that needed to be corrected. I'll PM him separately or might just wait for the factory BMW retrofit.
What I'm worried about is installing a home made retrofit and have something to accidentally short circuit on me and the dealer will not honor the warranty. Maybe I'm just paranoid. haha
