Let's just say I'm not using Accelleration Assist leaving my house

(However, I have spent much more $$ on far stupider things).

It's not the bucks that are getting me static, it's the noise. I can understand her confusion. First she said I paid extra for a 545 just to deny it by debadging. Now after debadging, I want to make some noise for my own pleasure, but in the process will disclose what is under the hood. And all this time I have accused her of Italian logic when it looks like I am the culprit.

Makes life interesting though, doesn't it.

Maybe I can use some Italian logic to get me a Ferrari 360 in my garage. No need for an exhaust on that one... well... maybe a Tubi?

That Tubi looks like it would take some heavy modification.

Found this, too. Talk about plumbing!

Has anyone else opened their second pipe yet? I closed it again just to see which way I prefer. I decided to leave it open permanently. I am loving the startup and low end growl. Nice idle too. (noisy in the garage though). I guess I can see why BMW added the flap for their 4-door sedan buyers. I wonder how close this is now to the sound of the 645 that I have been hearing about? .....do it!

GEARS5, I don't have a second flap valve to open - only one - see picture below. I also did an AVI file on idle for all to hear. May have to turn the volume up, though. <_<

It's fun too see all you guys are opening the flaps after my post about detaching the vacuumhose and other posts on securing the valve to have a little more sound!

JDN, I meant did anyone else follow us and open the flap on their second pipe (the first pipe being the left one without the flap).

Your AVI file is exactly what mine sounds like at idle. The extra rumble is a little unrefined, but I like it. I guess BMW was trying to cover it up with the flap.

Now I understand. My neighbor just missed his ride to the train so I had a chance to try it out again. It sounds pretty good decelerating in 3rd and 2nd at about 4k rpm and down. Can't hear the shifts as well as I'd like, but it is pretty good considering the cost. Now if I could just get about half of the baffles out of the left side, I would probably be satisfied.
