Exhaust muffler question

My Ride: 2005 545i
I hated how the magnaflow has a polished look on the face of the muffler when you look at it from the rear, So I got some flat black paint and a moderate sanding sponge this weekend to paint the face black. After i sanded it the polished look went away and took on a brushed metal finish which looked clean so i left it that way and did not paint it black.
Now the question is will this make it easier for the muffler to rust now that the polish layer has been removed ?

I think by time the muffler starts to rust to the point where holes appear, you would've gotten rid of your car. I think you should be ok, the mufflers are manufactured to withstand rough conditions.
