The Escort Passport 9500ix only sounds the alarm when it is a real alert. This device gives the driver the ability to manually lock out signals that are known to be false.

I am always impressed with how well my 9500ci works. I'm sure the direction indicator is pretty cool on the V1 but I think I prefer the simple alert and it doesn't really matter where it is. If I am getting an alert I slow down until it goes away - especially in my own city where the false alerts have been filtered out- when it beeps there IS a cop somewhere.
My radar alerts whether the cop is behind me going same direction or opposite and it alerts when at a crossroads and I can't even see the car the yet. wait...wait...wait... cop drives by. I just don't know which way to look!

I got a Passport about a month ago... love the GPS and learning features. I am happy with the results and it has alerted by to several speed traps.

I got the 9500 last month for Christmas from the wife. Hard wired it with help from this forum. Great detector and I love the learning function. Highly recommend it!
