My Ride: 2005 545i (build date 04/05) silver grey metallic/black leather/anthracite maple/6 speed Steptronic/sport package/cold weather package/premium sound package/active cruise control/navigation system/HUD/Sirius satellite radio/comfort seats/rear electric sunshade/rear airbags/rear seat heat/fold down rear seats
Does anybody know how to get the folding emergency triangle that fits into the tool kit of the truck lid? I understand it is removed in US sold models since it does not meet DOT standards (too small). I may resort to asking friends in Europe to send me one or even trying to pick one up on my next visit. It would be nicer than having one rolling around loose in the trunk.

Here you go:
The following is a US part:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mo...409&hg=72&fg=95
BUT it doesn't look like the one that folds though. Here's a link to the European part:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mo...451&hg=72&fg=95
Funny thing is that it says "ended" so I wonder if it's still available.
A while ago, kscarrol said he found a triangle at Pep Boys that fit perfectly in the space in the toolkit. ks, did you ever get around to finding the information on that specific part? (this will refresh your memory...)

If you try to order the specified part from the BMW Parts Department the computer will indicate it is not available (there is a part number). I was just wondering if it is possible to get BMW parts via mail order from another supplier, perhaps overseas.

82 11 1 466 578 $26.00 However, this is not the european one and will not fit in the tool kit.
Buy mail order from Crevier BMW in Santa Ana, CA...ask for internet parts department and save about 30% on all parts.
If you want the euro one check the classifieds of this site, bimmerfest and roadfly...usually you can find some euro ones for sale or check ebay.
btw, I have a brand new US first aid kit that fits in the toolkit if anyone wants to buy it
