According to my friends who've been passengers in my cars, they find the ride in my 550i with Eibach springs to be more comfortable than my 540i (E60) that had the M-sport springs. As a driver, I too find the Eibach springs tend to give more refinement in handling, whether they be over humps/bumps, or in tight turns. Hope this helps...

Wasup Shamu,

I was looking in to some H&R Sport springs and Eibach Pro's, and but I have 20's to so I just ordered some H&R Race

which I think is half an inch less drop then the H&R sport. If the road conditions weren't so bad I would of went wit the Sport

though. I think H&R sport or the Eibach Pro's has a good drop wit the 20's. Either one the ride would most likely

still be stiff just alittle.

I'll get some pics in after I get them in and install them.

Hi All,

GQuK545i: I think the H&R Race Springs are lower than the Sport springs (1.75-2.5 vs 1.5-2).

Does anyone have experience with the ACS shocks? What about ride quality on 19' run flats?

Thank you all for your input thus far!

For those who have been running on the Eibach Pro's for some time, have you experienced any "sagging" of the springs over the miles/years? This is a concern that I've heard about from a third-party, but to be honest, is the first time I've ever heard of it based on Eibach's excellent reputation.

H&R race springs are a 2" drop all around. H&R sport on a 525/530 is 1.4" front and 1.3" rear, and on a 545/550 is 1.3" front and 1.2" rear i believe.

One thing to consider is shock life. I can't seem to find a definitive answer. If we put aftermarket springs in, will it shorten the shock life?

Some shops say it won't. BMW is a car to be driven and the shocks won't be affected by a 1.2" drop. Others say that the life will be drastically shortened.

I'm also trying to figure out the benefits of coilovers. I know that they can adjust ride height and dampening. But if we are fine with both, will they offer any other benefits?

I'm also debating how to lower my car right now. If you are slightly concerned about ride comfort- I think Eibachs are better than H&R for you.

I had Eibach Pro's on my E46 330i (with Koni's) and they never sagged at all over 4 years and 70K miles. I know I can't compare the 530 (with H&R sport and Koni's) to it, but my 3's suspension was wonderful.

I'll come clean on my screw-up with my 530 -- I had Eibachs on for less than 2 weeks. I bought then new from someone who never got them installed on his 525 (on another forum not here). I sent him the part number to verify they were correct and he said he did. Got them installed and we couldn't understand why the front didn't drop enough -- until I checked myself and found they were V8 springs!

I had them with the sport package struts and they really felt nice for the short time they were on. Then decided to go with the H&R and Koni's (didn't want to think about a third installation if the struts wore out too fast!). Also hard for me to compare H&R to Eibach since they had different struts, but I believe the Eibachs are a little softer. More comfortable for daily use, but probably give up a little when pushed really hard.

E60 V8 Eibach Pro-kit springs are available if anyone is interested.....

Firstly, the M-sport springs are harsh and crashy, compared to the Eibach.
Eibach springs are progressively wound, hence are still rather comfortable in normal driving, but the more compression you put on them, the stiffer they get.
I have run them for nearly 2 years on my 535d M-sport and they have been excellent all the time, while the car got used to it's full capabilities.
Eibach usually seems to be a little more conservative in terms of the drop, compared to H&R.

H&R are excellent springs, too, but generally firmer to start with than the Eibach.

If one of your main priorities is to keep as much as possible of the ride comfort, it's gotta be the Eibach Pro Kit.

Thank you all again for your input -- much appreciated!

As an update, I've decided to go with the H&R's primarily because, after seeing pics of sylver's car on H&R's with 20" wheels, my fears of it being "too-low" were assuaged. The springs were shipped out today, and I will post pics once they're installed!
