There are 2 kits, pre-LCI and post-LCI, they are dramatically different.
LCI has a larger ring for low beam(but it can work with both headlights), and smaller high beam ring
Pre-LCI has a smaller low beam ring (will not work for LCI lights) and slightly larger then the LCI high beam ring (can work for LCI).
If you get an LCI kit, it will work on Pre-LCI cars. If you get a pre-LCI kit, you can't reuse it for an LCI headlight.

strangely both customers received the same kit , and as Simon Said , I managed to install the same kit on both pre and LCI ..
I'm sure everyone will be happy to receive the kit that I have on my car , the amount of LED's in both rings ( small and big ) is equal or I mean the space between the LED's is equal in both rings comparing to the other kit , the small rings has more LED's that the big ring ,
here is a picture of my kit
the kit the other received
if this is the case then I advise everyone to order the LCI kit all the time ,,

Maybe, I have trouble creating that in my mind.
The reason why I think black works really well in this case is because this really highlights the angel eye rings, even when they are not on. If you refer to the video I posted above with the hazards on, the angel eyes are nice and visible, despite not being on.
It's probably not everyone's taste, as some would prefer it to be more subtle or something, but I think that looks real good.

Whats an AHL?
i am definitely doing this mod exactly how you have it set up. i just got my orions in the mail yesterday. im also going to add a bit of F10 styling to it via a custom frost treatment i saw done by DKNewYork in this thread here:
https://5series.net/forums/topic/113...1#entry1339588
is it difficult to swap out the lense?
did you paint the entire assembly black? how did you paint the rear part of the projector lens to get it black? how were you able to paint the hi-beam assembly/reflector? special paint or just sanding, primer and paint?
youre pics look AWESOME but some extra DIY type info would help greatly....as soon as my research is complete im going to begin my project

Looks pretty nuts - I used to stare at my old pre-LCI lights and dream of all the crazy ideas I could implement if I could only gain access to the inside. I almost like the blacked out look better than my LCI headlights - now if only someone could add LED brake lights to LCI tails...
