Hey all, new here. I just picked up a CPO 2008 528i E60 with the non-Logic 7 audio. I love the car and the audio is actually decent for OEM but i'm coming from a high end all Dynaudio driver/Tru Technology setup in my last vehicle and i'm itching to play around already. I'm debating my options and system planning. The idea is to not go so overboard and use OEM locations with superior drivers and pull it together with aftermarket processing and amplification, keeping the signal off the stock head. Not looking for SPL, but rather some SQ with better headroom for those higher speed driving and days you have the windows down and the road noise drowns out your tunes...

Can anyone comfirm if the SWS 8 will fit in that cavity- in other words, is the OEM basket itself the very same(despite differences in the size of the drivers offered in the diff BMW packages)?

If i know for sure i can fit 8's in my non-Logic 7 under the seats, will make all the difference in planning dedicated 8" midbasses or simple up front sub solution.

first, search function is the useful tool to see if there has been any topic for anything...

sws is the only one that barely fits underneath the seat... but in my opinion whats the point of getting that when you can just get a 12" alpine type r and power that up since you have to get a new amp to power up sws....

but if you absolutely need trunk space, go for sws..

for me i just went with 2 12" type x and power them up with pdx 1.1000

Thanks for the reply. I did a little outside research on my options over the last few hours speaking to some of my contacts in the audio industry, while drop-in solutions are my preference they have to lend well to the total system configuration. I bought this car and will likely keep it at least until warranty runs out or beyond, so while i'm opposed to going too far into customizing the car, i still want to get the system to certain standard. The goal remains to keep my trunk fully functional for now, but i do have a wonderful 12" woofer with a pretty rear end that i could go Infinite Baffle with behind the rear seat armrest.

I'm certain the earthquake 8's are not going to cut it for joint midbass and subduty, and i'd be looking to mate them to what exactly? The 4" driver, off axis behind the door limits how low i could cross them over to where the 8"ers can play snappy enough on the high side to sound like they are coming from the same point source without sacrificing the low end rolloff. Its just too much to ask of an 8" to play up to 250hz(most 4's even have have trouble playing that low without mechanical noise at decent volume) and have any sort of LFE below 50 hz.

Door panels add ons are a perfect match to OEM, and the passive crossover engineered and designed specifically for the E60 and its locations.

The speakers appear mighty familiar to those coming from Rainbow and MBQuart build houses, and i'm fairly versed and experienced with the Rainbow line to say the tweeter and looks very much like a Rainbow Cal26Profi variant and the woofers like the old Professional/Contour/ Arc Audio ACS265's mids, with similar specs. I'm fairly certain on what these are going to sound like, very German. And me likes that...

The best part is they are 2ohm...any small footprint 2ch x 75/100 will rock these at 150/200rms per side and should be easy to keep stealth. Nice upgrade, dual midbasses and all The nice thing is the locations under the seat will still be available if i chose to go the Eathquake 8(or other alternative) route for dedicated sub up front at a more desired low pass frequency.

The idea is to keep stock amp powering the rear deck and tap into the front channels for signal on the new amp. I'll be able to fade completly to the front off the I-drive for my everyday use and SQ jam sessions, and fade the rears back in when i have the kids the car or other passengers.

I'll be sure to post some pics of the install.

This is the best setup but some ppl like he have 2 kids and now way can I put 2 12 sub in the boot then have no room for the family stuff like push chair.
some topic say that you dont need to upgrade the amp???

@Manny-

The stock that you see in the rear powers only the subs under the seats, the rest of the system is powered by the HU.

Oh boy, thanks for clearing that up Nelson. Here i thought everything was going to be laid out for me in the trunk. The signal going to the amp should be full range though, right? Or is it filtered at the HU?
