First of all, I have used the search function before starting a new topic.
I want to retrofit the M5 brakes on my 530i.
I went to the dealer today, but he does not exactly know what parts I need to retrofit the brakes. He quoted me like 2400 euro for only the front brakes, which is too much I think.
For now I want to retrofit the M5 front brakes first, since money is limited. And on a later time the M5 rear brakes.
I couldn't find any used M5 brake kits on the net. So I had to buy new ones.
I know that a few members have retrofit M5 brakes on a non M5 car, so can they please help me out to order only the neccesary parts to retrofit the brakes.
Please see the attachments for the parts.

Hope that you can help me out.
Thanks.

Sounds like a fun project. I have a 530i also and I plan to do the same thing for the front brakes next spring.

Has done the retrofit of the M5 brakes to his car. He is the king of the DIY retrofit and will know exactly what parts you will need. You should drop him a PM.

Rizbel and AlexFW have done the retrofit 1 year before 'nicke60gre' .

Bbtjai, I bought them as new and I was happy to know I was installing new parts and not used rubbish. Do you need brakes to brake or to look like the M5?
Because rear brakes are not so necessary in the braking.. Plus M5 rotors are *expensive* so every time you'd need to replace them you'd pay 5x (where X = 530i rotors) .
Bye and welcome in the club of E60s with decent brakes!

To be honest I go for the looks, I am not tracking with my car.
The most expensiv thing are the calipers. They are 610 euro each.

I'm assuming that since you are still unsure of all the required parts for the retrofit of the M5 brake-kit, you haven't made your purchase yet. The M5 brakes are great, but have you considered a BBK from Brembo or Stop Tech? The Brembo and Stop Tech calipers look much better IMO.

I haven't purchased them yet.
First, I was looking for a used set (front and rear) of M5 BBK which will cost me around 1200 euro. But I couldn't find it, plus the people that bought a used M5 BBK complained about the bad condition of the parts they get and still had to buy some new parts e.g. new rotors and new brake pads.
I also informed on BBK of Brembo or Stoptech, but that will cost 3500$ excluding shipping for 6 pistons front. And I really want front and rear, which make it an to expensive option for those brakes.
So I decided today to go to the dealer to get some prices of some new M5 BBK. But I was quite shocked when I heard that they cost 2400 euro only for the front. While Andy545 got quoted 3100 euro for the front + rear on the M5 BBK.
I still don't know what to get, but I need new brakes for sure, since mine are squeeling like mad.

Unfortunately, I can't help you with what parts you need to purchase to do the M5 brake kit retro-fit.

The trend now is to go for 6 piston mono-block calipers for the front and 4 piston mono-block calipers for the rear. Another recommendation would be the Brembo Grand Tourismo BBK. They cost much less than the 6 piston front Brembo BBK that you were quoted on. The Grand Tourismo Kit is 4 piston like the M5 brake kit for the front and rear. I have the Grand Tourismo Kit (front and rear) on one of my cars (and I think they perform incredibly and look awesome) and the front cost me about the same as what your dealer quoted you for the M5 kit (and aftermarket car parts in Korea is ridiculously expensive). Chances are, the Grand Tourismo Kit should cost much less in Europe. The M5 brake kit is good, but the Brembo Grand Tourismo Kit is another really good option.

Did you consider to get drilled discs for 545i ?
You can find them on ebay/internet.
